Your first hour

You meet one physical therapist for about an hour. Bring a care partner if you like. This is what happens, in order.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Before you arrive

The front desk checks your benefits and calls you. You can fill in your forms on our portal or on paper when you arrive.

  2. 02

Step 2: We start by listening

What you want to keep doing, what has gotten harder, and who helps you at home.

  3. 03

Step 3: We look at how you move

You walk, turn, stand up from a chair and reach, while your therapist looks, asks and explains. We work within what you can tolerate and stop when you tell us to.

  4. 04

Step 4: We explain what we found

In plain words, including the risks and the choices, and what we think the first weeks should focus on.

  5. 05

Step 5: A plan you can keep

A short written routine for home, and an agreed plan for the next visits.

What to wear and bring

  • Wear

Clothes you can move in and shoes that stay on your feet. Not slippers.

  • Bring

    • Your plan card and a photo ID

    • A list of your medicines

    • Any cane, walker or brace you use

    • A care partner, if you like

What we do not decide on day one

  • The whole plan of care

We agree on the first weeks and review as we go. The plan changes when you do.

  • Anything you are not ready for

You can say no, or not yet, to any exercise or any part of the visit.

Ready for a first visit?

Tell us how you would like us to reach you. We call back on the next working day.
